Hot Find at Kohl's - Limited Edition Green Mountain Coconut Coffee

I was at Kohl's yesterday using some $5 off coupons to buy some deals, and came across this item that I remembered as a Hot List item from last year. Green Mountain Island Coconut Coffee. I personally like this coffee so I was excited to find it, but it is still a profitable item on eBay.

Here is the deal I did:

18 pack of Green Mountain Island Coconut K Cups = $12.99
Sale price = $10.99
20% off Kohl's coupon at register brought the price down to $8.79
$5 off coupon made my final price $3.79 before tax

The 96 ct box of this product is selling for $56 on eBay which equals .58 per K cup, so an 18 count box should sell for around $11.

If you can find this coffee and do this deal a few times, you can flip it pretty fast. There are only 10 active listings for this product as of today, April 18.

Stay tuned for a new Hot List coming out soon. Also visit my new membership site, Online Selling Coach, for more ideas on niche products to sell on eBay.

Miss Me Jeans a Good Seller on eBay

The Miss Me brand is relatively new, but it has become very popular. It was launched in 2001 and was intended to provide clothing for women who cannot be contained to just one style. Miss Me designed their clothing to be versatile, comfortable, and always stylish. They have two different lines in order to suit all occasions. They also have developed a line for children, called Miss Me Girls, that is intended to provide fashionable pieces that are still appropriate for younger girls.

Miss Me jeans are high quality and specialized, with a variety of washes and embellishments available that are inspired by rock and western styles. Their sportswear line was designed to offer pieces that coordinated perfectly with their denim styles. Miss Me also created dresses, tops, and even outerwear in order to give consumers the Miss Me style in all that they wore.

Miss Me created a couture line, called MM Couture, in 2008. They designed it to offer more formal items yet still have the same style and feel as their other pieces.

Miss Me pieces have been featured in a variety of magazines, including Elle, Marie Claire, and Glamour. Their pieces have been worn by many stars, such as Beyonce and Mischa Barton. Their pieces retail in select stores in the US, Japan, Latin America, and Europe.

5 Best iPad Accessories to Sell on eBay

Accessories and complimentary products for more expensive items are a great niche product to sell in your Amazon or eBay store. One of the most popular items right now is the Apple iPad. There are a variety of accessories available for it, giving you plenty to choose from. Here are a few ideas -

The ILuv Glarefree Protective Film is designed to protect the iPad screen from fingerprints, dust, and scratches, while also giving users the ability to change the angle of the screen for easier viewing. The Protective Film is 19.99 and almost invisible.

Because buyers have spent so much money on their iPad, they will want a way to protect it. The Belkin Grip Sleeve is made from silicone and textured neoprene in order to make it easier to hold on to. It has a soft lining to protect the touch screen and is available in black and purple with laser designs. The case can even be washed, making it great for everyday use. It retails for $29.99.

Another case option for iPad users is the Scosche KickBack iPad Stand. It’s made from rubber and polycarbonate, making the case shatterproof. It also has a kickstand built in that can be used vertically or horizontally. In addition, it makes gaming easier because of the molded hand grips on the sides.

The Luv iSP150 Bar Portable Stereo Speaker is battery powered so it can be used anywhere. It’s small enough to slip easily into a bag and comes with a carrying pouch of its own. The speaker sells for 34.99 and can even be used with an iPhone or iPod.

The Kensington PowerBolt Micro Car Charger sells for 24.99. It allows users to charge their iPad in their car. The charger is small enough to be out of the way and can be used on an iPod or iPhone too.

Use the niche product finder on Terapeak to discover more niche products to sell on eBay. Remember, the key to selling a product is to get in on the action early, ride the wave, then move on to the next hot product before the herd discovers it.

Gullah Sweetgrass Baskets

My consignment client recently gave me some Gullah baskets to sell on eBay. The above photo is the actual basket – isn’t it gorgeous! These baskets have a rich history and can be quite valuable because they are very labor intensive to make. If you are not from the South, you may not be familiar with these baskets and the rich tradition surrounding Gullah. Here is a short history on this craft and how these baskets came to be.

South Carolina and Georgia carry a rich cultural history, blended from European and African culture. Slaves in the coastal areas of these states, originally from West Africa, brought their traditions to the United States and assimilated them into the unique culture known as Gullah. Many of the elements of this culture have survived to the present time, and local artisans practice handiwork that is highly valued by collectors worldwide.

One such tradition that has been preserved for decades is the sewing of Gullah sweetgrass baskets. These baskets, made of bundled and coiled sweetgrass, are sewn together by hand using thin strips of the saw palmetto plant. The baskets, made entirely of plant material, are handcrafted from bulrushes, sweetgrass, and pine needles. The various plants are combined to create attractive colors and patterns.

Gullah sweetgrass baskets, today, are a precious art form and prized by collectors. Many of the basket makers are located around the coast of South Carolina and the local artisan work is quite popular with collectors and tourists alike. The baskets are both durable and useful, and serve many purposes around the home. Some baskets are used for utilitarian reasons, holding keys, bread, or fruit. Others are displayed proudly in glass cases as beautiful collections of art, demonstrating the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans who created them.

The most complex Gullah baskets may take weavers months to complete, and many such baskets now reside in the collections of private individuals and museums, including the Smithsonian Museum of American History. The creation of the baskets has been threatened, however, by coastal development. The habitat for the sweetgrass used to make the baskets is slowly being eliminated. The Historical Society of Charleston is working to establish nature reserves to protect the sweetgrass itself, along with the cultural tradition and rich history of Gullah sweetgrass baskets.

I learned a lot by selling this item for my consignment client. I had never come across one of these baskets before and did not know the history. This is one of the huge benefits of selling on consignment – you will be provided with items to sell that you never would have found on your own.

Bakelite – What is it and why is it Collectible?

Bakelite was invented in 1907 by Leo Hendrik Baekland. This unique thermosetting plastic was used in the 1930’s and 1940’s for a wide variety of products, ranging from utilitarian household items to costume jewelry. The cast resin material was heat resistant, and was originally used for electrical work and only available in a few select colors.

By the 1930’s, however, these resins were being produced in a wide variety of colors. The versatile Bakelite material was inexpensive to produce, easily manipulated by artists and manufacturers, and easy to blend into most decorating schemes. Before long, Bakelite items were seen in every room of the house, serving every purpose imaginable.

For the household, Bakelite clocks and telephones were popular, and were produced in a wide variety of modern colors and styles. The Bakelite telephones were especially popular in the UK, and were commonly seen in homes for quite some time. Kitchen utensils and cutlery featured Bakelite handles, napkin rings were made of brightly colored Bakelite, and napkin rings and other decorative table items were also made of this unique material. It was also used to produce personal items, such as razors with Bakelite handles, hatpins made of Bakelite, and mirrors and brushes with Bakelite handles. These items were functional, but also added a touch of beauty to the home.

During the Great Depression, Bakelite jewelry helped to brighten the lives of women who couldn’t afford precious metals. This inexpensive, colorful material became a popular fad, and items were created by the most known designers of the era and sold at popular retail stores such as Saks. The rings, necklaces, and Bakelite earrings were fun to wear and inexpensive to collect. Bakelite pins and brooches brightened up outfits everywhere - the resin could be carved into beautiful shapes and was easy to polish to a brilliant shine.
