New eBay Coach Affiliate Program - Make $10 per Sale

You may have seen this mentioned in Skip McGrath's January newsletter regarding my eBook, The Golf Shirt Bible.

When I started selling on eBay in 2003, my core product was golf shirts I found these at thrift stores, golf pro shops, and off-price stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's. Living in Atlanta, the golf mecca of the South, golf shirts are plentiful here. (Another example of the strategy, "Think about what you have access to that others don't.") In my pre-eBay life, I was the fundraising coordinator for a non-profit organization here in Atlanta and was involved in coordinating several golf tournaments. I learned a lot about golfers' clothing preferences and what happens to excess golf shirts created for tournaments and promotional events. I was able to build my business around this niche product, hence the name of my eBay store, Atlanta Golf Shop.

I have sold over 12,000 golf shirts during my eBay career to buyers in over 30 countries, resulting in a profit of over $100,000 over the course of about 5 years. As we move closer to spring, golf shirt sales are about to take off. Historically, March and April have been my best months to sell men's golf and polo shirts.

With this in mind, I have created an affiliate program for my eBook, The Golf Shirt Bible. Many of you reading this have already purchased it and know that it is an excellent resource for understanding this niche market. There are several reasons that golf shirts are good sellers on eBay:

1. Golf shirts are plentiful and easy to find in thrift stores and off-price stores.

2. Golf and polo shirts are a common wardrobe item - men wear them to work, for casual every day wear, to church, and of course, to play golf.

3. Men prefer internet shopping. They can go online, order a quantity of items at one time, and have them delivered to their door in a matter of days.

4. Golf shirts are easy to photograph and you can list them quickly.

5. They are lightweight and easy to ship - no chance of the customer receiving them broken and requesting a refund. (Compare this to shipping dishes or glassware - a packing nightmare.)

This comprehensive 44-page eBook contains all the pertinent information about making a profit selling golf and polo style shirts on eBay. It explains entire process from start to finish, including:

* Why Golf Shirts are Easy to Find
* Creative Sources for Finding Golf Shirts

Building Passive Income Streams - Anyone Can Do It

People often ask me if all I do is sell on eBay. No. I have many other income streams. eBay is just one of them. The key to making money with multiple streams of income is persistence, time, and commitment. For example, here is my history on eHow - an article writing site.

I started writing for eHow back in June 2007. I didn't even know the site paid its writers. I was just writing articles about how to do stuff on eBay. In January of 2008, money started showing up in my Paypal account. I have submitted 316 articles to eHow since September 2007. The last article I submitted was in February 2010. (I stopped submitting articles when the system changed and it became more time consuming to write there.) Click here to see my profile. My articles have had over 1 million views in the last 3 years and I am now making about $35 a day and haven't submitted anything in over 8 months. I now make enough money from this income stream to pay my mortgage.

Here are screen shots of how my earnings have grown over 3 years:

2008

2009

2010

Why am I telling you this? BECAUSE ANYONE CAN DO IT. All you have to do is start and make a commitment to keep building these income streams from now on. It only takes minutes a day. But you have to do it every day.

eHow is only one of my streams of income. In addition to eHow and eBay I make money from these things:

Selling books on Amazon
Google Ads on my blogs
Affiliate marketing
Writing for the Examiner

It just takes discipline, commitment, and the understanding that rewards will come later - delayed gratification. Here are some tips on where and how to get started building passive income streams.

Start a blog to promote your eBay store.

Start a blog about anything you want and monetize it.

Sign up for Swagbucks.
(Here are my gift card rewards for this year - so you can see it really works! I have redeemed 28 $50 Amazon gift cards this year so far for a total of $1,400. You can use the gift card balance immediately or let them accumulate. I will be doing all of my Christmas shopping on Amazon this year with money that Swagbucks paid me.)

Submit articles to Constant Content.

START NOW - DON'T WAIT. Six months from now you can be seeing income from these sources.

Amazing eBay Story - Sue the Truck Driver

I received an email a few weeks ago from Sue regarding selling books on eBay and Amazon. You have to hear her story. Sue is quite a resourceful and shrewd business person. I am amazed at what people can do when they decide to do it.

I am a long haul truck driver, just me and my dog Kelly. I stay out from home about 4 weeks at a time. I have my net book computer and I use truck stop wifi to gain access to the internet. I have some books, cds and dvds in my truck cab and list them for sale online. I also have a printer and can print the shipping labels. When something sells, I can package it with my packaging materials that I keep in the cab too, and drop it in a mailbox at some truck stops.

And I also have many amazon affiliate links on my websites, as well as affiliates for other places. So if anyone buys from my sites, I get a commission. I am also going to sign up with e-junkie.com and use their service to process ebooks and other electronic items that I can sell. I am a member of click-bank and they have a wide variety of items that I can sell on my websites or on amazon and eBay.

If I get to a yard sale or thrift store, I can scan bar codes with my i phone app and then determine by the price of the item whether or not to buy for resale in amazon or eBay.

This is a side hobby I do in my free time when I'm not driving. We get a 10hr break after every 14 hr work period. Sometimes we wait all weekend long at a truck stop to deliver on Monday, so we have a lot of time to do internet work.

My websites right now are www.truckersue.com and www.tropicalsue.com and www.bajapoker.com. I use register.com for my sites as they are not too pricey and are very user friendly. I can build a website in a few hours. I then use godaddy.com with discount code "ron" (from harry potter) and get domain names. Then I forward those domain names to my websites.

I am slowly building my sites where I can do a shopping cart with ejunkie and when customer buys, they are taken to download the items they purchase. I don't have to stock anything. It's all automatic. I give the personal touch by sending them a email thanking them for their purchase. And I can and will set up nice coupons and discounts for customers as well. I do all this whenever I have free time.

I also enjoy making videos and have started a video series called "Ride Along with Trucker Sue" on YouTube. I check in from various places in the country & talk about anything exciting. I then always include some links to my sites in the videos. I have done podcasts too. But I don't have too much time for too much stuff!!

I am on facebook at www.facebook.com/myyango I post on there probably more than anywhere else. It's a fun place to keep in touch with friends & family.

Susan Miller and my dog Kelly

Wow, a mobile eBay and Amazon business run from the cab of a truck. Very impressive! This just goes to show that you can do what you want to do and figure out a way to do it if you are persistent and determined to find a way.

Affiliate Marketing Tip - Using Twitter to Find Your Target

If you are participating in Skip McGrath's affiliate program, here is another tip for promotion. Leverage the power of Twitter which has between 10 and 15 million users (depending on which authority you reference). This must be done carefully and professionally.

1. Shorten your affiliate link to Skip's free newsletter using TinyUrl.com or another link-shortening site. You can save the shortened link to use over and over again. Twitter only allows 140 characters so we want to maximize the space with real words that can be searched on.

2. Go to Twitter and start searching for words and phrases that could indicate someone is looking for a way to work from home, make money online, or has changed job status. Some suggestions are:

lost my job
lose my job
downsized
out of work
laid off
quit my job
work at / from home
make money from home
home business

The search box looks like this:

3. Next, look through the results. You will see a lot of junk that won't apply. Look for people who may be a candidate to read Skip's newsletter and learn about eBay. Here is an example of a tweet you could reply to:

4. Respond to comments with your target keywords using the @ symbol. In this case, I would say something like,

Not only will that person see your tweet, but others will see it also and anyone who searches for the keywords in your tweet will see it.

Remember that you want to get people to sign up for the free newsletter. People love freebies and this gets the person into the system so if they buy anything within the next year, you get the commission. Let Skip do the selling through the newsletter.

Add this technique to the other affiliate marketing techniques. Spend at least 15 minutes a day on these online marketing tasks and allow at least 90 days to start seeing results.

Affiliate Marketing Tip - Using Facebook Correctly

For those of you participating in Skip McGrath's affiliate program, here is another tip for promotion. Leverage the power of Facebook (which now has has over 400 million members). You have to do this carefully and professionally. The most important point to remember:

DON'T SPAM AND DON'T INVADE ANYONE'S PRIVACY BY POSING UNSOLICITED COMMENTS ON THEIR WALL.

Here is how to promote anything on Facebook the right way.

1. Post updates on your status. Only post these a couple of times a week. Don't post these links non-stop all day long. Your friends will get sick of it and they will un-friend you. Focus on the free stuff like the newsletter and the 77 Tips. People love freebies and this gets the person into the system so if they buy anything within the next year, you get the commission. Post updates like:

Free newsletter for eBay sellers!

Free eBook! 77 Tips for Successful eBay Selling

2. Answer questions in your groups. If you see any questions or comments in your groups about someone wanting to work from home, losing a job an needing income, or related topics, post the same links as above. You won't be pushing someone to buy anything, only pointing them to a free resource. Don't post this on other people's walls.

3. Include a link under your own post on groups. Facebook isn't set up to give you a signature line like in other groups or forums. Make your own! After you post something on a group, put your name at the end of your post like this:

Suzanne Wells
Free eBay Newsletter for Sellers
(your affiliate link)

4. Post your link (only when appropriate) as a comment on someone else's update. For example, if someone on your news feed has a comment like, "Looking for a way work from home so baby doesn't have to go to daycare!" This is a perfect opportunity to direct the person to the free newsletter. Explain that you are an eBay seller and it works for you and the newsletter will help them learn more. (Be prepared for rejection, not everyone likes eBay.) Look for opportunities to lead people to the free newsletter if they are seeking work at home jobs, are out of work, want to stay home with kids and make money, etc. Spend a 5-10 minutes a few times a day reading your news feed and looking for opportunities.

Remember, it is much easier to give away something free than to sell something. Let Skip do the selling. Focus on leading people to the free newsletter.

Affiliate Marketing Tip - Less is More

For those of you participating in Skip McGrath's affiliate program, I am going to be offering some regular tips on how to maximize your commissions and introduce you to some affiliate marketing techniques so you can make more money! Over the past year, I have been an avid student of affiliate marketing and have tripled my monthly earnings from affiliate programs. I am now making almost as much doing affiliate marketing as I made as a full-time seller on eBay. I will always love eBay and sell on eBay, but setting up passive income streams with affiliate marketing is a business model that can't be beat.

The first and most important tip about affiliate marketing is:

Choose your affiliate programs with discretion!

Website visitors prefer an uncluttered clean page to one that is covered with confusing ads. (The example above makes you dizzy, doesn't it?) A confused mind chooses nothing. Don't try to promote everything you come across online. Furthermore, the more you have on your page the longer the page takes to load and you will lose visitors in those critical few seconds. Too many choices are overwhelming and confusing to the visitor and they will click away and leave - which is exactly what you do not want.

For example, you will see some of the same affiliate programs over and over again on eBay sellers' About Me pages. Some of these programs only pay only pennies for a sale or referral. Why waste your time on those? Why put those ads in front of your visitors when other ads can make more money for you? Choose affiliate programs with higher payouts! When you promote Skip McGrath's eBay Business System, you make $38.80 per sale. Reduce the number of options on your page and the visitor won't have any choice but to click on the higher paying programs - resulting in more commissions for you.

Whether you are promoting affiliate programs on your eBay About Me page, your own blog, or your own website, choose them with discretion. You can always rotate your ads to see which ones perform the best. No one can sell everything all the time. Choose your ads carefully! Get rid of ads that are not performing (generating income) and replace them with new ads from Skip's program. Leave the ads in place for 2-3 weeks and see if you get any hits.

If you have not signed up already, click here to join Skip McGrath's affiliate program. The payouts are 40% of each sale. This can be some serious money if you are willing to learn how to be a good promoter. I will be posting more information on how to promote these products so if you are new to affiliate marketing, don't worry! I will walk you through the process and explain how it all works.

Happy Selling!

Create Your Own Blog to Attract New eBay Customers

eBay sellers are constantly on the hunt for new customers. That is the nature of selling. You can communicate with your target audience by starting your own blog that parallels what you sell on eBay. For example, I have a client who sells trade show exhibits - the materials for the displays used at trade shows. This client wants to communicate with existing buyers and attract new ones by starting a blog that focuses on trade show exhibits. His blog will discuss all sorts of trade show related topics like:

Display hardware and graphics
Portable displays
Custom designed displays
Trade show flooring
Rentals
Hiring set up and dismantle labor
Trade show schedules

His blog will attract readers that he can send to his eBay store and website. He will make some residual money using Google Adsense and affiliate programs. He is very knowledgeable trade show exhibits and knows this niche inside and out. By creating a blog in conjunction with his eBay store, he can stay in touch with his customers from eBay, and his blog can be found by new customers when they Google phrases like trade show exhibits, trade show displays, and trade show booths.

When selling online, your goal should be to create and maintain several streams of income. In other words, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. The magic (and the money) comes when all your streams of income are weaved together into a virtual tapestry - and they take on a life of their own. Multiple streams of income will feed off each other.

Taking your eBay business to the next level involves starting a niche blog. This is how people interested in your product line can find you - they may not go to eBay first. I highly recommend this course and am taking it myself - I am in month 5 and the information just keeps coming. I like this blogging course because the format allows users to move at their own individual pace. The concepts of online marketing, keyword optimization, identifying niches, finding your target audience, etc. can be applied to more than just blogging.

There is a free 3-day trial, so if nothing else, take the trial and see what the course has to offer.
